Well this post is one of reflection and maturing in my own rights...
Its easy for all of us to sit on the sidelines and play the cynic and judge others with our own eyes. We learn from young the most cliche and used saying 'never judge a book by its cover'. But is it just an idealistic future that we wish for or want?

I should understand. The dirty looks people shoot me just because i'm different from them. Does me not being straight justify who i must be in the future? What's playing behind me on my television now is 'Ghost Whisperer'. I love the show, but mainly its because of Jennifer Love Hewitt. A friend of mine says that most people are watching that show because of her boobs. But today's episode actually ties in with the point im trying to put across. Melinda Gordon ,a woman with the ability to communicate with the dead ,found a duty to help the dead cross over by fulfilling their last wishes. While doing so, she faces the eyes of others and being labelled a freak from young. Only those who have had her help see her from a different light. What is it exactly that we wanna teach the young? That when we are different we have to over compensate just so that the general public can see us as normal?

Maybe to all those who feel like im just ranting on about the having u 'endorse' the lifestyle of homosexuals should start opening your mind. Its far beyond having your acceptance. Its GIVING BACK the rights that have been taken away. And its not just about people who are homosexual or bisexual but also people who are simply different from what we perceive as normal. Homosexuals alike. You may already be the ones looked down upon in the society. With that being said, you should have the maturity to look at others with respect who are different from you. Maybe im sounding a little self-righteous but i have the opportunity to know some people who are different and it's really been my greatest pleasure to know them. But it breaks my heart to have to see them work doubly hard to gain back respect from u stupid people who judge them. By doing so much making up, they end up losing sight of themselves. 'Live and let live'. Have u never heard of it?

I thanks the people in my life who allow me to see things from a different perspective. My Muslim drama teacher who accepted me for who i am told me :' if you are happy being who you are, no matter what religion others are in, no one else has the right to judge you'

HIV is also the same thing. We cannot cast aside people we know who are positive. How does that reflect on you people who back off cuz you are scared? They are people with feelings with emotions too. As much as i dun understand what they are going through, I will make it a point that i can be there for those i know. NOT because i feel sympathy but because i wanna show true concern as a friend. I admit that i am scared of the unknown but one thing's for sure. If i sit here and whine about how unfair the world is then im no different from those talk shows. I'm going to row up my sleeves and help out as much as i can and when i get scared and lose confidence in myself , i know i have friends i can count on. People with HIV don't deserve it. No one deserves it(no matter what Ronald Regan says) Be understanding to them and treat them like a friend. I believe that what they want most is simply a friend there to be their emotional outlet and not sympathy.

Conversation between Rose and Blanche when Rose thought she has AIDS from 'The Golden Girls':
Rose: 'I just saying that i am a good person!'
Rose: 'Hell, im a goody two shoes!'
Blanche: 'AIDS is not a bad person's disease Rose!'
Blanche: 'It is not god punishing people for their sins!'
Rose: 'Oh you're right Blanche...'
Blanche: 'Damn straight im right!' quoted from Golden Girls's episode titled 72 hours.

We mature in our own rights and our own time. So why force others to conform to your ideals of what normal should be? Live like how u want others to treat you. If anyone dares to stand before me and criticise any one of my friends because they are different, i will definitely stand up for any of them. If you are unhappy with someone or something. Take it out with a punching bag! Dun you even think bout stomping on someones self worth to the ground cuz i will return the favour. Its not a threat. Its a promise! To those hovering in uncertainty, provide your shoulder to those you cast aside. Give them a chance instead of condemning them for something which isn't their fault. Which ever faith you belong to, pray and love those who are different because it will make a different to someones life. Be truthful and sincere. Not patronising. Smile from the bottom of your heart.
